Second Opinion Services

Employers have a responsibility to provide and maintain a safe working environment for their employees. But even in the safest workplace, there will be injuries and illnesses, work-related and non work-related. Returning an employee to work after an illness or injury can present employers with difficult decisions such as:

When can the employee safely return to work? Should the employee be placed on modified duty, and if so, for how long? What about delays in an employee's return to work?

Was the illness or injury caused by something in the work environment, and if so, how can it be prevented in the future?

Second Opinion Exams can be tailored to address the client’s specific needs, but generally include:

Patient history
Brief workplace review
Physical
Impression
Causation
Prognosis
Treatment recommendations
Restrictions

This examination may need x-rays, neurometry, and/or laboratories depending on the condition being evaluated.

Second opinion services do not include: impairment rating, MMI status, and workplace analysis. If these exams are necessary, we recommend a complete independent medical evaluation.

All Medix professionals are Certified Independent Medical Examiners. Examinations are conducted with strict adherence to guidelines set forth by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME).

Medix physicians have many years experience performing complex independent medical exams at the request of both employee and employer representatives.
