Second Opinion Services
The next step beyond file review. Second opinions are best scheduled for accepted work injury claims when you want to have specific questions answered to help address important issues in helping your worker recover from injury or illness and safely return to work.
Issues that can be addressed in a Medix second opinion evaluation might include but not be limited to:
- Medical care recommendations to enhance recovery
- Identifying any important occupational or nonoccupational barriers to recovery or return to work, and recommendations to address these issues
- Return to work issues might include work restrictions, whether the worker can safely work while taking medications, and specific return to work plans and goals
Second Opinion Exams can be tailored to address the client’s specific needs, but generally include:
- Patient History
- Physical Exam
- Impression
- Treatment Recommendations
- Restrictions
This examination may need x-rays, neurometry, and/or laboratories depending on the condition being evaluated. We appreciate your needs and will call for authorization for testing, but we ask that if possible, appropriate tests are pre authorized to avoid unnecessary delays.
Second opinion services do not include: causation, impairment rating, Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) status, and workplace analysis. If answers to these questions are necessary, we recommend a complete independent medical evaluation.
